Despite finding a glimmer of hope after Gaëtan Laborde’s equaliser at the start of the second half, OGC Nice succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, with Kylian Mbappé finding a late goal to double the scoreline for the home side on the back of Lionel Messi’s outstanding free-kick in the first half.
Speaking to Canal+ after the final whistle, Nice defender Dante rued making errors against a strong opponent like PSG. As quoted by Foot Mercato, the Brazilian centre-back said:
“It’s terrible. At the moment, we need points. We were very determined to get here, to do something. It’s a shame that these small mistakes happened. It’s not in this kind of match that we had to make these mistakes, we paid for it.”
Following the defeat, Nice have dropped down to the 13th position on the points table. Having played nine matches in the 2022/23 Ligue 1 season thus far, Les Aiglons have collected only eight points. The distance between them and the relegation zone currently stands at two points.
