LA CROSSE, WIS. — Winning 19 of 30 individual bouts, including 11 by bonus-point decisions, the Augsburg College wrestling team went 3-0 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Candlewood Suites Duals, held Saturday at Mitchell Hall.
Augsburg, ranked No. 9 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national poll, won seven of 10 bouts in a 28-9 win over No. 20-ranked Cornell (Iowa) in its opening match, then won six bouts each in its next two victories, a 26-13 triumph over Loras (Iowa) and a 22-19 win over Olivet (Mich.).
The Auggies were paced by 184-pounder Owen Webster (FY, Shakopee, Minn.), who went 3-0 with two major decisions and a 25-second pin on the day. He improved to 7-1 on the season with two pins, three technical falls and two major decisions.
Sam Bennyhoff (SO, Mound, Minn./Mound-Westonka HS), ranked No. 4 nationally at 133 pounds, also improved to 7-1 on the season with three victories, including a 14-4, major-decision win over No. 6-ranked Michael Triplett of Loras. He also claimed a technical fall win and a decision on the day and outscored his opponents by a 40-7 margin.

Victor Gliva (FY, Farmington, Minn.) moved to 7-1 on the season with three wins at 125, including a major decision and technical-fall victory. He outscored his opponents by a 38-8 margin in the three wins.
Brady McFarland (SO, Windlake, Wis./Muskego HS) also claimed three victories on the day at 165, including a major decision, to improve to 6-2 on the season.
Alex Wilson (SO, Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis HS) scored three wins at 149, including a forfeit, to remain unbeaten at 8-0 on the season.
Grant Parker (SR, Onalaska, Wis.), ranked No. 1 nationally at 157 pounds, went 2-1 on the day, scoring a 10-7 win over Cornell’s No. 7-ranked Aaron Engle in the opening dual. He is now 6-2 on the season.

Augsburg is ranked No. 9 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national poll.
Against opponents from Divisions II and III, Augsburg is 307-47-1 in dual meets since the 1989-90 season. Augsburg has lost just 43 matches to non-Division I opponents since the 1995-96 season.
Against strictly NCAA Division III opponents, Augsburg is 299-46-1 since the 1979-80 season. Since the 1989-90 season, Augsburg is 224-36-1 against Division III opponents.
