Asuka has achieved a lot since coming up to the main roster late last year. In addition to maintaining her undefeated streak, the “Empress of Tomorrow” won the first women’s Royal Rumble match in January and she will challenge Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship in April at WrestleMania. As if that was not enough, WrestlingNews.co now reports that WWE plans on leaving Asuka’s undefeated streak intact for another year. WWE is reportedly hopeful that they will be able to have Ronda Rousey challenge Asuka at next year’s WrestleMania. This could be a sign suggesting that perhaps Flair may lose her title to the Japanese sensation at the event later this year.
Big Cass is one star in WWE that the company clearly had big plans for before he received a devastating injury last year that has kept him out of action for months. It was reported last night that Cass was backstage during the Raw show in Dallas, Texas to receive medical examinations as he is in the final stages of recovering from his injury. PWInsider has since reported that Big Cass was telling his peers last night that he was officially cleared to return to the ring by WWE doctors. It is possible that Cass could return in time to be Braun Strowman’s tag team partner for his match against The Bar at WrestleMania, but no details on when Cass is expected to be back on television have been released just yet.
The long-running feud between Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt came to an end during Raw last night when the two faced off in The Ultimate Deletion match. Hardy managed to defeat Wyatt before shoving him into the Lake of Reincarnation. Wyatt mysteriously never did emerge from the lake, leading Matt to declare that Wyatt had been “deleted.” During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated that Wyatt will be repackaged once he returns to WWE television. He stated that the company has been interested in repackaging Wyatt for about a year now, so last night’s defeat may have been a way for the company to write him off of television until he is ready to re-debut on the main roster.
