As previously reported, Bobby Fish suffered an undisclosed knee injury at a recent NXT live event that required the tag team champion to be helped to the back by medical personnel. According to PWInsider.com, the Undisputed Era member will likely be undergoing surgery later this week.

WWE returned to Full Sail University on Wednesday night for the final set of NXT television tapings that will take the promotion all the way through WrestleMania weekend. It was revealed at the tapings that Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish will defend the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Takeover: New Orleans in a triple threat match against the Authors of Pain, as well as the newly formed duo of Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong. That bout will not only determine who leaves NOLA with the gold, but who takes home the 2018 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic trophies.

It’s possibly worth noting that PWInsider.com also reported that WWE had plans to strip Fish and O’Reilly of the titles and have the Dusty Rhodes Classic determine the new champions at Takeover. That may still be the case, as this new (potentially temporary) solution gives officials more time to evaluate Fish’s condition, and they obviously still feel there is a chance he could recover in time to defend the titles.
