Department store Harrods and the Design Museum announced to produce a series of six design-focused lectures. The debates wil  feature some of the world’s leading designers and industrial experts, including fashion designers Vivienne Westwood and Roland Mouret. The lecture series will launch with an open debate chaired by Design Museum Director Deyan Sudjic and will discuss the question ‘What makes a design icon?’. The lecture series is a celebration of iconic design and will offer an insight into designer’s motivation and inspiration.

The first lecture is lined up for Tuesday 15th April 2008 and takes place at Harrods. It will discuss what journey a product must go through before it attains an iconic status and what role a design icon has. Other debates include talks by chief architect of St. Pancras International, and industrial designers Ross Lovegrove and Richard Sapper.

The lectures are scheduled on various dates until 23rd May 2008. Tickets are available for £15 and can be booked in advance via the Design Museum.
