After saying he was leaving the company, Jay White returned to NJPW this morning, attacking Tomohiro Ishii.

His return came at this morning’s Road to the New Beginning event at Korakuen Hall. Ishii pinned Yujiro Takahashi in a six-man tag team match that featured him, Kazuchika Okada, and Toru Yano defeating Yujiro Takahashi, EVIL, and Dick Togo. Ishii and his tag partners celebrated after the match. But as Bullet Club distracted Ishii’s team on the outside, White emerged from behind and attacked Ishii, laying him out with the bladerunner.

White’s last high profile match featured him losing the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental title match on the January 5 Wrestle Kingdom 15 card against new champion Kota Ibushi. White later said in a backstage interview that he would fulfill his contractual obligations the following day at New Year Dash, but would leave NJPW after that, upset that he didn’t fulfill his destiny to become champion again. He then lost the next day, as Ishii pinned White in a ten-man tag team match.

White has been wrestling for NJPW since 2015, first starting as a young lion. After an excursion in the United States, he returned as The Switchblade, eventually joining The Bullet Club and aligning himself with Gedo. He is a former IWGP Heavyweight, Intercontinental, and United States champion.
