Even more interestingly, some reporters noticed that Middleton is wearing the Royal Family Order on top of everything else. If you need a refresher, the Royal Family Order is a yellow pin given by Queen Elizabeth to female members of the family as a personal designation. It is extremely rare, represents honor, and is only worn at the most formal of events.

The pin itself shows the queen as a young woman, and the list of known wearers is very short. In fact, the last wearers of it were Queen Elizabeth’s daughter-in-law, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. They wore it in 2004 and 2007, respectively. Diana, Princess of Wales, also wore the honor back in 1981.

Famously, Sarah, the Duchess of York, was never given the pin to wear. Meghan Markle has also not been offered the honor, which is understandable considering she is a very new royal.

Paired with Middleton’s diamond and pearl-encrusted Lover’s Knot tiara, the look made for quite a regal fashion moment. More of this please, Kate.
