While the date wasn’t announced, Major League Wrestling announced Tuesday they will hold their second Opera Cup tournament this year.
In late-August, they annoounced they would hold a series of TV tapings in October at an undisclosed East Coast city with a goal of airing them in November. It’s unknown whether those tapings will be the Opera Cup tournament, similar to how Ring of Honor’s recent tapings were for the currently airing Pure Championship tournament.
MLW’s last TV tapings were in March at a co-promoted show in Mexico with AAA. Since those new shows wrapped, they have gone to the well of archived content with an anthology series and their old MLW Underground series.
The company revived the Opera Cup in late-2019 after 71 years of inactivity, an East Coast-based tournament that was held at various opera house locations for five decades. Davey Boy Smith Jr. won the 2019 tournament with a finals victory over Brian Pillman Jr., a nod to Stu Hart being the last Cup winner in 1948.
