On Thursday, Ligue 1 side FC Nantes announced that they had activated their option to buy French youth international goalkeeper Alban Lafont from Italian side Fiorentina.
Lafont had the following to say on the matter:
“This is a real show of common faith and I am very happy to see Nantes activate their option to buy. It is a sign that I am doing good work and that the club is counting on me. It is my turn to return that confidence by proving a bit more each day on the pitch. The coach recently made me captain of the team and this extension goes in that direction. I truly hope that the best is still to come. Today, the idea is to bring my experience, which I have been able to acquire over the years, notably here at Nantes. I truly want to help the squad to go higher.”
Lafont is understood to have only agreed to having his option to buy clause activated if Nantes sell him this summer. Les Canaris are currently involved in a relegation dogfight against rivals Nîmes.
