As L’Équipe report, Paris Saint-Germain will be without both Lionel Messi and Neymar Junior for the trip to Lens on New Year’s day due to the Brazilian’s suspension and the World Cup winner’s continued absence from the PSG squad.

This means that for the first time this season, PSG will be without their two offensive stars – as Kylian Mbappé is left to lead the line. It however could mean an opportunity for both Hugo Ekitike or Pablo Sarabia get a chance in Christophe Galtier’s lineup.

Whilst the absence of Messi was already taken into account following his extended absence from the World Cup, Neymar’s was rather more unexpected – getting sent off in the 62nd minute of PSG’s clash against Strasbourg for a dive which will mean he misses the clash at Stade Bollaert on Sunday. It complicates Christophe Galtier’s task of composing the PSG offensive line for a key clash in Ligue 1.
