The oft-substantiated Twitter account @WrestleVotes revealed that WWE Creative had much different plans for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. According to the anonymous account, the original plan for the belt was to have Dean Ambrose cost Seth Rollins the title, leading to Intercontinental Champion Elias. This was reportedly scrapped last month, when Roman Reigns’s leukemia diagnosis completely incinerated the majority of Creative’s plans.
As it stands, Seth Rollins will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Dean Ambrose at WWE TLC. Elias is currently working with the likes of Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin.
Interesting tidbit for those who like this type of thing: prior to all of RAWs creative plans going up in flames last month, the original Ambrose heel turn angle was to see him cost Rollins the IC title. Who was scheduled to win the strap you ask? Elias.
