TRIBECA, NY – The world famous Red Arrows of the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force joined the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds in a historic – and spectacular – flight down the Hudson River and over the Statue of Liberty Thursday.

The aerobatic treat passed Lady Liberty at 9:30 a.m. It was a preview of the New York International Air Show which is being held at Stewart International Airport, north of the city, this weekend.

The Red Arrow jetted down the river in their signature big battle 9 aircraft wide formation. Two F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters trailed the Red Arrows, followed by the Thunderbirds.

The Hudson flight passed down to New York Harbor where the formations made a sweeping right turn and proceeded back up the river. They were set to make a pass over West Point Military Academy prior to landing back at New York Stewart International Airport.
