Shingo Takagi headlined today’s New Japan Pro-Wrestling event in Ehime, Japan with a huge victory over Bullet Club’s Taiji Ishimori, officially securing his spot in the finals of this year’s Best of the Super Juniors round robin tournament.

Shingo finished the A Block with an unprecedented 9-0 record racking up 18 points, setting a new all-time record by surpassing the previous record of 16 points earned by 2013 tournament winner Finn Balor (as Prince Devitt) and 2012 runner-up Low Ki.

The Los Ingobernables de Japon star will advance to the Super Juniors finals on Wednesday, June 5th at the historic Ryogoku Sumo Hall. He will face off against the winner of the B Block, determined by a match between Will Ospreay and Ryusuke Taguchi on June 3rd.

As previously reported, the Super Juniors Finals will also feature the return of Hiroshi Tanahashi as he takes on “Switchblade” Jay White, as well as Jon Moxley’s NJPW debut as he challenges IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion Juice Robinson.

The winner of the tournament will receive an opportunity to face IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Dragon Lee at this year’s Dominion event, New Japan’s second biggest show of the year, taking place just four days after the tournament finals.
