LOUISVILLE, Ky. –  Texas A&M University-Commerce’s Mariah Jameyson and Coker’s Christine Carver were named the Louisville/Slugger NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the week, respectively. The duo earned the honor for their outstanding play for the week of Feb. 26-March 7.

Jameyson earns the weekly distinction for the second straight week, improving on her monstrous performance from last week. She helped the 11th-ranked Lions to a pair of road victories over conference foe and then-No. 18 Cameron, which catapulted her squad 10 spots in the rankings.. The senior from Seattle, Wash. increased her batting average, on-base percentage and hit total against the Aggies. Jameyson hit .875 with a .923 on-base percentage and a 2.215 slugging percentage. Reaching base in 12 of her 13 plate appearances, she totaled seven hits and five walks, homered three times and registered nine RBI.

Jameyson launched a three-run home run in game one and proceeded to win the contest with a two-run single in the top of the 10th. She added another three-run dinger, a double and solo shot with four RBI in game two. Jameyson, a repeat Lone Star Conference Player of the Week, scored three times in each of those contests. In her last 25 plate appearances, Jameyson has reached base safely 23 times with an .867 batting average, .920 on-base percentage and a 2.333 slugging percentage.

Carver went 3-0, which included a three hitter on the road against No. 2 North Georgia, with a 1.00 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 21 innings of work. The sophomore righty went the distance in all three starts, posting a shutout and holding her opposition to a .149 batting average.

Carver, a native of Waxhaw, N.C., opened the weekend with a three-hit shutout of Flagler in which she struck out four in a 5-0 victory. The following day, she put forth a five-hit complete effort, striking out five and not issuing a walk in a 2-1 win over the Saints. Returning to the circle the same day, she fanned a season-high 12 NightHawks as the Cobras handed North Georgia (24-1) its first loss of the season.
