As we noted yesterday, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were sent home from the remainder of the current WWE European tour, following an incident which took place on WWE Smackdown Live this week.

The incident came when Owens and Zayn did do what they were told to do following Zayn’s singles match against Kofi Kingston.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the match finish was done as planned, however, following the bout Owens and Zayn were supposed to take a beatdown by The New Day, but instead, they just left the ring and exited to the back. Meltzer added some sources are claiming the entire situation was a miscommunication, as Owens and Zayn had no problem taking the beatdown from New Day, and there are no issues related to the two men not wanting to put New Day over. The issue is the fact that Owens and Zayn were supposed to sell the beatdown to help set up a tag team match on Smackdown next week.

Following the incident, Zayn and Owens were told to fly back home to the United States, as they were no longer needed for the rest of the tour. The two could be brought back to WWE TV on Smackdown next week, but their statuses with the company are currently up in the air.
