In what feels like an everyday occurrence, the UFC lost a main event on short notice Saturday afternoon, forcing yet another shuffling of the deck with one month to go in an unorthodox 2020.

This Saturday’s Jack Hermansson vs. Kevin Holland main event in Las Vegas was canceled due to Holland testing positive for COVID-19. The irony is that Holland was himself a late substitution for Darren Till who suffered a knee injury earlier this month.

As a result, Marvin Vettori has been bumped up from his December 12th UFC 256 fight against Jacare Souza and will take Holland’s spot. Holland will then take Vettori’s spot against Souza who coincidentially tested positive for the virus earlier this year when UFC returned back to action in Jacksonville, Florida.

In the last month alone, the UFC has had to deal with the following main event issues:

Last night’s Curtis Blaydes vs. Derrick Lewis main event fell through on Friday when Blaydes tested positive.
UFC 256 lost featherweight champion Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson and bantamweight champion Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling.
In early-November, Islam Makhachev vs. Rafael dos Anjos was changed to RDA vs. Paul Felder when Makhachev got hurt.
The aforementioned Till injury that resulted in Holland and now Vettori getting the nod.

The UFC has three more shows to close out the year before starting with seven shows the first two months of 2021.
