THE BRONX, NY — One guest of the Bronx Zoo interpreted the saying “entering the lion’s den” a bit too seriously, as video surfaced recently of an unknown woman dancing in the zoo’s lion enclosure as a stunned apex predator looks on from pouncing distance.

After a brief staring contest between the lion and the intruder, the woman busts out a short dance routine by rocking her hips to the side and waving her arms as the lion barely flinches, according to a video posted on Instagram.

The incident depicted in the video occurred Saturday, according to a Bronx Zoo spokesman. The spokesman said that the woman’s behavior violates the zoo’s strict “zero tolerance” policy on intruding into habitats for its animals and that she’s lucky to have gotten out of the sitation unharmed.

“This action was a serious violation and unlawful trespass that could have resulted in serious injury or death. Barriers and rules are in place to keep both visitors, staff and animals safe. We have a zero tolerance policy on trespass and violation of barriers,” the zoo spokesman said in a statement.
