WWE NXT Results
March 28, 2018

– Nigel McGuinness and Mauro Ranallo welcomed us to Full Sail University for another episode of NXT. It’s announced that after months of illegal attacks and harassment that has gone far beyond the confines of a WWE ring, Johnny Gargano will finally get his hands on his former best friend and arch rival Tommaso Ciampa. The two will face off in an “unsanctioned fight” at NXT Takeover: New Orleans.

IN-RING SEGMENT

NXT General Manager William Regal made his way to the ring to a tremendous reaction. He thanked the fans before announcing that the promotion would be unveiling a brand new NXT North American Championship in less than two weeks time at NXT Takeover: New Orleans. In order to grow and expand, the title will be defended by the very best talents from all across North America, just like the WWE UK Championship has introduced us to the likes of Pete Dunne, Mark Andrews, Tyler Bate, Trent Seven and more.

Before he could continue Regal was cut off by mysterious music which turned out to be none other than EC3! The former TNA superstar was met with massive “EC3” and “WELCOME BACK” chants, taking his sweet time actually getting to the ring in his fancy new suit. He told Regal “this is just too much”, saying he was already given an extremely lucrative contract and some sick new music, but he never expected they would create a whole new championship belt just for him!

Regal let him ramble on and on for awhile about being the face of North America and being the best wrestler anywhere in the world, wrestling for any promotion in 2018. The GM eventually cut him off and said while he was very happy to finally see EC3 in an NXT ring – a loud “NX3” chant broke out – nobody was going to be handed anything. At Takeover the NXT North American Championship will be suspended above the ring in a ladder match as six men competed to become the inaugural title holder.

– Aleister Black will be here live tonight!

– They aired a video package recapping the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic so far. Tonight the Street Profits face the Authors of Pain, while Sanity faces Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong with the winners advancing to the finals of the tournament.

– TMDK was interviwed at the WWE Performance Center about getting back on the horse after their loss in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. In the background we see Ember Moon with a few of the Performance Center trainees, confronted by Shayna Baszler. The two got into a shoving contest and started throwing elbows and right hands back and forth until referees and trainees were able to split them up.

AOP took control early on as Rezar just pummeled his opponent in the corner with knees and hip strikes, raining down with clubbing blows. They alternated in and out with quick tags beating the holy hell out of Angelo Dawkins for several minutes. Montez went to the floor and got a black cup and started drinking something that hulked him up. He tried to offer some to Paul Ellering who got in his face and threw the drink on the ground, prompting boos from the NXT Universe. AOP took advantage of the distraction to murder Dawkins with The Last Chapter to pick up a shockingly easy victory.

Winners: The Authors of Pain

– NXT General Manager William Regal was interviewed backstage and asked about who will be in the six-man ladder match for the new NXT North American Championship. He announced that Adam Cole will be the second competitor in the match, but was interrupted by Velveteen Dream who pleaded his case to be included in the historic bout. Regal agreed and announced him as the third competitor.

LARS SULLIVAN vs. JOHN SILVER

Rest in peace, Silver. The returning Sullivan squashed his opponent in the corner several times before planting him with a huge running powerslam. Silver got tossed around like a sack of potatoes, his head and neck bouncing off the turnbuckles as he crashed back down to Earth each time. The big man came off the top rope with a devastating splash, then hit the Freak Accident to pick up the 1-2-3 in about a minute.

Winner: Lars Sullivan

– William Regal finds Lars Sullivan beckstage after his victory and offers him the fourth spot in the NXT North American Championship ladder match. The big man accepts and is very grateful for the opportunity, but before they get to New Orleans he wants a match with Killian Dain! Regal makes it official for next week!

– Dakota Kai makes her way out for a match, but there’s trouble happening in the parking lot and cameras cut to the back to figure out what’s happening. NXT Champion Andrade Cien Almas is shown stalking a beatdown down Aleister Black, who is slowly crawling across the parking lot trying to get back to his feet. Almas tries to waterboard him in a cooler full of iced water before brutally bashing his face into the building, through a door and drags his lifeless body back inside the arena.

– We cut back to the ring where Dakato Kai is told by the referees to leave immediately. Almas continues his asssault on Black all the way to the ring, grabbing a steel chair and beating him down over and over again. He places the chair on his chest and holds the title over his opponent’s head while Zelina Vega talked trash. Eventually the two left together as a swarm of officials and medics hit the ring to check on the #1 contender.

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic – Semifinal Round
SANITY vs. RODERICK STRONG & PETE DUNNE

Strong started things off with Eric Young and immediately took him to the mat, controlling the pace early on with a series of holds. Dunne tagged in and threw some headbutts and forearms but Alexander Wolfe caught him with a knee to the back on the apron, and Sanity took advantage of the spot to start picking apart the Bruiserweight.

After a commercial break Dunne was still being worked over as Sanity made quick tags and beat the hell out of the UK Champion in the ropes. Eventually Dunne fought back and dropped Young with a brutal right hand and made the hot tag to Strong who started lighting everyone up with wicked slaps and knife-edge chops. Dunne dropped an elbow off the top rope and slowed things down with more holds. Things completely broke down into an all-out brawl at the end. Wolfe came off the top rope and got caught with a right hand, Young hit a facebuster from the second rope on Strong and connected with a high elevation elbow drop that would make Kairi Sane jealous. Roddy kicked out at two-and-a-half and delivered a brutal knee to the face of Wolfe, then caught EY in the End of Heartache. Dunne hit his finisher and the two picked up the a surprise victory.

Winners: Pete Dunne & Roderick Strong

– We head to William Regal’s office where he’s asked who will be the final man in the ladder match. He said he’s just finishing up the contract now and will be right back. The door closes and then opens again, and Ricochet walks out as the crowd explodes! Loud “RICOCHET!” chants break out and he tells the interview “I’ll see you in New Orleans” as we go off the air.
