The inevitable end of Bayley & Sasha Banks’ partnership took place on last night’s episode of SmackDown.

After losing their Women’s Tag Team title rematch to champions Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax, Bayley snapped and attacked Banks. The angle ended with Banks being taken out by ambulance after Bayley wrapped her head around a steel chair and then jumped off the middle rope onto the chair.

The story was that Banks hurt her knee in the match. Medical personnel checked on her after, but Banks pushed them out of the way. Bayley went to help Banks out of the ring, but she then turned against her partner and kicked Banks in the head. Bayley gave Banks an extended beatdown, including attacking her knee.

New Universal Champion Roman Reigns kicked off last night’s show with his special counsel Paul Heyman. A fatal four-way match in the main event decided Reigns’ challenger for Clash of Champions, with Jey Uso getting the win and advancing to challenge for his cousin’s title at the pay-per-view.

Uso wasn’t originally announced for the number one contender’s match but was added after Sheamus attacked Big E. When Uso thanked Reigns for getting him the spot, Reigns said it was Heyman who got it done. Uso had questioned Reigns earlier in the night about his relationship with Heyman and if Reigns could really trust him.
