France Football report in tomorrow’s magazine of a particular interest from Arsenal in Lyon attacking midfielder Houssem Aouar.
The outlet claims that Unai Emery is a big fan of the player’s versatility, his ability to both intercept play and unlock defences with a killer pass and his potential to replace the hole that Aaron Ramsey will leave when he quits the club either in January or for free next summer.
Aouar’s interest in a move to the Gunners will depend on whether or not they are offering Champions’ League football next season, but it seems clear based on the interview he gave this evening to RMC that his priority would be to work with Guardiola at Manchester City.
The player nearly signed for Liverpool two years ago, only for Lyon boss Bruno Génésio and his family to convince him against a move.
Borussia Dortmund were the most aggressive in their attempts to sign him this summer.
Any deal for Aouar is likely to cost considerably more than the €40m quoted in tomorrow’s magazine.
