“I’m believing because I know my qualities. My club performances will decide it and I’m going to try and give it my all so that I have a chance to hope for it. But I’m aware that it’s not that easy.”
The 26-year-old has yet to be called up for the senior national team, but has an impressive record with the U21 side, scoring 13 in the three years he spent there.
Dembélé scored 21 goals last season – notably picking up form in the second half of the campaign, as Lyon nevertheless missed out on European football – but has seen the returning Alexandre Lacazette lead the attack this season in his stead. The former Fulham and Celtic man has found the net twice so far this campaign, in nine appearances.
